The Indian Mackerel/Silver fish are generally found in the shallow, coastal waters, where the surface water temperature is at least 17oC. Vietnam’s Indian Mackerel lives along the sea from north to south or Indian Mackerel is also widely found from the central provinces of Vietnam to the Southern water, the fishery volume is amongst top 5 wild-caught fishes. Indian Mackerel is tasty and nutritious and is a very popular seafood for Vietnam families.
The Indian Mackerel/Silverfish fish is also known as the "Indian mackerel". In the months of March to June and September to November, the silver-cheeked fish blooms like a fish.
The Indian Mackerel/Silverfish fish has an elongated body, slightly flattened. In Vietnam, the catch was once the length ranged from 72 to 280 mm, an average of 209 mm. The length of fishing in different waters is also different, in Vung Tau waters is 72 to 295 mm, in Con Dao is from 62 to 260 mm. In Phan Thiet waters from 135 to 295 mm. Indian Mackerel have slender tail fin, with 2 to 3 ridges on each side. Two dorsal fins separated. Behind the second dorsal and anal fins, there are auxiliary fins. Their pectoral fins are located high, the fish swim fast and strong, suitable for a migratory lifestyle.
Thanks to the large amount of fishery each year, Indian Mackerel fish is not only consumed in domestic market but also exported to international markets. Nghe An, Quang Nam, Khanh Hoa, Binh Thuan, Phan Thiet and Ben Tre are provinces which export Frozen Indian Mackerel Fish the most to Asian countries like Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia and Hong Kong with specs IQF/Block 10 kg bulk bag/carton or as customer’s request.
